Greetings and welcome!
It is like a gosh-didly-darned heat wave! The bank clocks said +14 on the way home from work and I had to dial up Athelstane Weather when I got home to verify. Yup, according to that station, it hit 15.8 mid afternoon. As I sit down at 6:30 to do my overnight update it is still 14. I will be heading out to the work shed in a few minutes to celebrate.
The cold has served us well. I got a report of 10″ on Caldron Falls today. No doubt we are getting a nice frost in the ground too. With the solstice coming up on the 21st, the sun isn’t doing much damage to the snow, and the cold is helping that too. We are keeping everything that we are getting from light snow and dustings.
Looking ahead at the 16 day GFS forecast model it looks like more of the same. There are no 32+ days anywhere to be seen.
There is, however, some snow. There is a chance of light snow Saturday that looks like it will hang around for a while. That could add up to a 1-3, maybe more if it lingers.
There is also a storm about a week out that the model has been kind of consistent on. It has varied in strength, and the timing has been anywhere from the 20th to the 24th, but the model has continued to show a storm that week.
If I had my Buy It Now button I’d be clicking it furiously right about now. The image at the right is the precip forecast for the bulk of the storm. A rough estimate says that it could be a 9-12 storm as shown, and mostly snow. That would be nice to have right before the Christmas to New Years stretch. That is still over a week away on the model, so don’t get too excited yet, but it is nice to look at.
Well I am off to the work shed. Have a good Friday and thank you for visiting!
