Greetings and welcome!
We have clear skies tonight, and that means that it will be yet another cold one. It got up to 14 today, the warmest in a long time.
By all accounts the trails around Silver Cliff, Lakewood, and Townsend are in nice shape. Wausaukee is a little thin in spots, but very rideable. I haven’t been to Crivitz in a while, but the River Road Riders and Kumalong Riders have opened some trails.
The trails like cold weather like this. The cold snow can’t pack and make whoopties and stutters, but it does pan down nice. After this cold stretch there are no more soggy spots.
This week holds the promise of warmer temperatures. We are looking at upper teens Tuesday, mid-20s Wednesday and Thursday, and into the mid-30s for the weekend. Right now there is no indication that it will get out of hand, so at that point it looks like we are in for some comfortable riding temperatures.
The GFS is showing a chance of rain Saturday afternoon and night, though it does not look heavy. A minor shift would make it light snow instead of rain, and there are four days between here and Saturday.
The following week looks warm too, but no big deal at the moment. I am all for some more normal temperatures as long as it doesn’t get out of hand. For now it looks like we have one more -15ºF night ahead, so I am off to throw another log on the fire. Have a good night and thank you for visiting!
