Greetings and welcome!
We had a little snow overnight that ended up being a heavy dusting. The forecast has the chance of a little more today, but the NWS says less than an inch. I don’t see much in the forecast that could save our Christmas to New Years stretch. The cold is still coming for Christmas, but no 4-12″ like we had hoped for a few days ago.
There is a New Years Eve storm possible, but without a blocking high pressure to push the storm north watching it hit to our south looks more likely than a big storm. There is plenty of time for that to turn around.
The Peshtigo River caught my attention over the past couple of days. It is way up into the trees by Kosir’s, much higher than normal. I checked the gauge this morning and it is three feet above the normal summer flow. I think that we might have an ice dam going, and I am not sure what will happen when it finally blows out. Will it lift up the ice, or will it go on top and flood it? Either way folks fishing the upstream end of Caldron Falls Flowage might want to be aware of both possibilities.
I am a little unhappy about our 4-12″ storm turning into less than an inch, but like the wind, there isn’t much that I can do about it. Have a good Thursday and thank you for visiting!
