Greetings and welcome!
I am watching the storm coming for late tonight and tomorrow. Things are indeed getting interesting.
The current NWS forecast has us getting 3″ tonight and 7″ Thursday. We are under a winter storm warning.
There are a couple of interesting things going on here.
First they are calling for a little rain or drizzle in the beginning and end of the storm. The expected arrival here is at 2-3am and it is expected to last until evening.
There is a particularly heavy band of snow showing up on the GFS and NAM forecast models. That band is forecast to hit Green Bay between 5 and 6am. That promises to make the morning commute there a real challenge if snow is falling At 1-2″ per hour with no opportunity for road crews to get a handle on it before the masses hit the road.
Complicating things will be the wind. At the same time the heavy snow is coming they are expecting 14-16mph winds gusting to 28mph. Combined with rapid snowfall rates I would not be surprised to see near whiteout or blizzard conditions.
That heavy snow band is shown hitting our area a couple of hours later.
Yesterday we got up to 37. There was some melting of ice on side roads, driveways, and parking lots, but there is plenty still there except for some spots where the roads were treated and the sun could hit it. County roads are clear.
At the moment that is all that I have to share. I will update once we start getting some accumulation or an idea how the storm is going to go.
Have a good night and thank you for visiting!
