Wednesday 12/16/15

Greetings and welcome!

Today was another rainy day. I am not sure how much fell, but I’d guess at an inch or so. It rained most of the day and most was at least moderate rain.

The cloud cover was so thick this morning that it stayed dark until about 10am .After the first big wave came through we had intermittent lines of precip. It was rain in Wausaukee, but a friend in Wabeno reported snow squalls with snow falling so hard that it limited visibility to almost zero. There were similar reports by Highway 8 a little north and east.

On the way home from work (Wausaukee to Silver Cliff) I had light rain here and there until I hit the Athelstane town line. It was like opening a door or shower curtain. I went from wipers off to a full on downpour abruptly. Two miles later it was a downpour with hail. After two miles of hail it was like walking indoors or a switch turning off. The precip was down to nothing in about a second.

One neighbor about 10 miles north said that we had accumulating snow last night but it was gone by morning.

As the storm moves off to the northeast we are expecting colder weather, winds, and occasional show showers. It is the cold part that I like. Late week and the weekend should bring highs in the 20s and lows in the teens. It isn’t a huge deep freeze, but it is going in the right direction. We have zero frost in the ground, no ice on lakes, and no snow. There is plenty of mud though, it is really really soggy out there.

That Is it for today. Have a good Thursday and thank you for visiting!
