Greetings and welcome!
It looks like this storm is going to be a bust for us. It just didn’t make it this far north. It is snowing now but we have less than an inch of new snow. It is expected to clear out in a few hours.
This is my deck rail at 2pm. Most of that is the snow from the last storm.
Here is the same rail at 7pm tonight..
There is a little more snow on the ground than the rail for whatever reason. (wind, sun?) When I measured at 2pm the rail had about 2.5″ and the deck had 3″.
When I was out last night I saw that the Near North (Athelstane) Club had been out panning trails. Why not? The snow is very packy and could freeze into a little good base.
Speaking of freezing.. Behind the weekend storm the models are showing some brutally cold air. The Green Bay TV news said they were looking for a high of +2 Tuesday with single digit daytime high temperatures the rest of next week.
As much as the cold weather bites we really really need that to freeze up the lakes, swamps, and ground in general.
There are two more storms expected between now and next week. The first one is a clipper Wednesday night with an expected 1-3 or 2-4. The second looks like a bigger storm for Friday-Saturday. I’m not going to sweat the details on that storm until this one passes and the models settle down and get a handle on it.
As I finish this up at 7:30 the radar shows that the snow is just about over. It’s official. This storm was a bust for us.
The snow that is here is very heavy and packy. It is a good start but there is only 3-4″ of it.
Have a good night and thank you for visiting!
