Greetings and welcome!
Yesterday I saw roadside trails from Rapids Resort east to the gas station on Parkway & C, down Parkway to Hwy W, and east to Crivitz. All of those trails looked good with ample snow and recent grooming. Road trails are a different story. Sunny spots have gone bare. Some areas still hold good ice, but that is hit and miss. Parkway was mostly bare except for in shady spots. If Parkway is bare you can bet that other road trails took a hit.
The TV news has started a daily count of cloudy days. Today is 8 days since we had a sunny day. That is a good thing at this time of year, especially with no meaningful snow since last weekend.
The part that has my attention this weekend is the warm temperatures expected. Friday looks ok with a high near 30. Saturday and Monday are expected to be 35ish. Sunday is the bad one. The NWS forecast is for partly sunny and a high of 44. My guidance agrees, and maybe adds a degree or two. Sunny and 45 is not what we want to hear. Thankfully it is Super Bowl Sunday and a lot of people are focused on that.
There is a chance of snow next week Tuesday and Friday. They are not big storms, but we could use it on road trails and to freshen up the regular trails.
