Greetings and welcome from the very cold north woods!
As the snow got groomed and saw a little traffic last weekend the trails ended up pretty nice for the weekend riders. I saw where the groomer had gone Saturday night and it looked like this perfect inviting blanket of snow.
Our giant ice base did bring some icy spots, but it also allowed our recent ~4” of snow to go a long way. Riders reported pretty good conditions.
We are in a deep freeze and it isn’t going anywhere for a while. Last night we hit -14 and it is 0.5 degrees right now at 11:15am. I’m not sure that we will make our forecast high of 9 degrees.
As far as I can see on the forecast models (about 2 weeks) we will stay solidly cold. Tomorrow we could see a high of 18 and that is the high point for at least the next week.
More of interest to you guys is the weekend forecast from the NWS…
Thursday Night-Partly cloudy, with a low around -15.
Friday-Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near -4.
Friday Night-Mostly clear, with a low around -18.
Saturday-Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 4.
Saturday Night-Partly cloudy, with a low around -12.
Sunday-Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 9.
A high near -4 on Friday? Oh boy.
There is no obvious significant snow in the forecast for the next couple of weeks. There is a chance of some light snow out of a clipper next week but from the looks of it right now it would be measured in 1/10ths of an inch. I guess it is a good thing that our snow has zero chance of melting.
When I was out and about this weekend I ran into some page visitors that also happen to be some of my neighbors. They get to be the first snowmobilers picture of the year. Good to see you guys!!
You can occasionally catch me at Rapids Resort and I usually have a camera along. I will likely set a couple of dates on busy weekends where you can get your smiling face on here too.
Well I am off to brave the cold to see how my car starts after a -14 night. After that I have a furnace repair to look into at a house where it isn’t quite keeping up. It will be an alpaca socks and big jacket day.
Have a good week and thank you for visiting!
