Greetings and welcome!

Our Arctic blast is almost over for the short term. Today and Friday we will hit 12 or 13 degrees. Yipee. Saturday, Sunday, and a lot of next week we are expecting mid-20s. That’s more like it. I love riding at 25.
This week I have been gathering up events. There is a lot going on this weekend and for the next three weekends or so. This weekend there are the bed races in Townsend, Newtfest on Newton Lake, a trailside bonfire with the Red Arrow Club in Townsend, and the Paul Bunyan Riders Sno-Fun Day at Waubee Lodge in Lakewood.

I made a page showing all of the event posters that I have seen so far. It is the top link in the main menu marked Jan-Feb 2026 Events. There are more coming. I know that the crooked Lake Fish-o-Rama is missing, along with club events from Athelstane, Wausaukee, Dun-Good, and River Road Riders.

As far as snow goes we had a dusting a couple of days ago. There are a few clippers possible but no big storms for the short term.

The trails that I saw on my road trip from Silver Cliff to Carter all looked great. It amazes me that they are that nice. We have a big huge ice base and it snowed about 4″ on top of it about 2 weeks ago. Somehow the cold has kept the trail system nice. There will be icy or thin spots, but generally the trails look nice. As always there is going to be a little more snow north and west.

I am looking forward to warmer weather and hopefully getting out for a ride. I didn’t ride the last two years so the Twindies will need some love. My garage is uninsulated and my little bullet heater can’t keep up in the bitter cold, so work on them has stalled while we had the brutal cold weather passes.

A fun thought.. I was planning a road trip last week to travel down south and see some old friends in GA, FL, AL, and LA. I cancelled it due to some intermittent car problems. I couldn’t imagine how it would have gone with the big snow storm, ice storm, and cold temperatures. Not only would I have gotten stranded down there (No power=no gas..), they would blame me for bringing it along when Florida got into the 40s. Maybe I’ll try again once mud season rolls around.

That is about it for today. Have a good week and thank you for visiting!
