Friday 1-9-2026 All Trails Closed

Greetings and welcome!

Yesterday’s rain was pretty unforgiving. The TV this morning said radar returns showed us in the edge between the 3/4-1″ band and the 1- 1 1/4″ band.  Because we are so far from the radar it frequently underestimates our totals. I would say it was at least an inch, probably 1.25-1.5″ . There was snow behind it, but it only came up about an inch of slush that melted off by noon.

The trails that held snow, and it is most of them, will have a phenomenal ice base when they finally freeze in. There were wear spots and high traffic areas that were showing some dirt and those did not fare as well. The vast majority of the system will benefit huge from the rain once it freezes again. At the moment it is 36 degrees and a footprint sinks into at least an inch of slush. There are also giant puddles in low spots.

We are going to need cold and snow to get rolling again. This weekend is out for sure. It sucks, but we will get extra weekends out of it on the other side.

There is a storm coming for tomorrow but it never organized all of the way so I am looking for 1-3 or maybe 2-4.

I don’t know how this ends but I’m sure that this weekend is out. After that there is a lot of potential with the saturated trails turning into a big ice base.

Have a good weekend and thank you for visiting!
