Greetings and welcome!
We are under a storm watch again. At my house 1/4 mile south of Silver Cliff we are under a winter weather advisory. In Crivitz they are under a winter storm warning.
Here they are predicting 1-3 tomorrow and another 3-5 tomorrow night.
In Crivitz they are predicting 1-3 tomorrow and 3-7 tomorrow night.
It is a decent enough storm and it looks like downstate they will see a good bit of snow.
Normally on a storm like this we like to see the center of the low pressure area track between about Milwaukee and Sheboygan. This one is headed to go over Chicago. If it land 90 miles farther north than expected we would be talking about 6-9″ or more possible. For now we are on the northern end of the storm.
My research agrees with the NWS for the most part but a little more skeptical on the totals. Only one Canadian model showed 6″.
Current conditions-
3/4″ of snow on the ground, not going anywhere
Small lakes and ponds are frozen over. Bigger lakes like Waubee and Townsend Flowage have ice by the shore but are mostly open.
The ground is frozen enough that the roads and ground are holding ice and snow. I don’t know frost depth.
Right now the models are in pretty good agreement putting the storm track over Chicago. If it wobbles either way 50-100 milesĀ the results could be very different. The snow should start at about noon Saturday and be done Sunday morning, with most of it coming overnight.
Have a good weekend and thank you for visiting!
