Greetings and welcome!
Yesterday wasn’t too bad. It was sunny and we had a high of 37. There were a LOT of people out riding yesterday. I was out in the garage working and they were going past all day. One guy stopped and said he was racking up miles before the trails turned to mashed potatoes. Good call.
There was a little melting but nothing catastrophic.
Today is a different animal. At 12:30 as I type this it is 49 and sunny. I have only seen one snowmobile go by on the trail. We are expected to go down into the teens tonight, hopefully freezing up any damage from today.
We have all of the big events tomorrow. It should stay around 40.
I got word that Iron Snowshoe is following Langlade and Oconto Counties’ lead and closing trails at 6am Sunday morning. Sunday and Monday they are forecasting upper 40s, which like today, doesn’t take long to turn into low 50s.
There is some hope looking ahead. There is a storm for Wednesday that I have been watching for a few days now. In earlier model runs it would have been a rain storm and a pretty good one. Yesterday’s Euro model showed a very exciting storm for snow.
Do I believe it? Nope. Not until it shows that consistently for a few more days. There is another storm possible next Friday. At five days and a week out it is just a nice cartoon.
The trails survived a busy day yesterday. Today I saw friends that already had 100 miles in by 10am before it got warm and it was now tavern time . Now that it is warm the trails are very quiet. Good job to the people who rode yesterday or very early today to try to leave something behind for future riders.
Have a good weekend and thank you for visiting!
