Greetings and welcome!
I ran up to Carter today at about noon. All of the trails looked great. The one minor exception was that one sunny spot on the grade just north of Lakewood was getting a little sweaty. That’s it. Road trails that have sunshine are taking it on the chin. You might want to avoid those.
No snowmobiles have come by the house today. There were some riders in Lakewood, Townsend, and Carter that didn’t get the memo and were riding at 50 degrees. Look over your shoulder dude, there are 5,000 people that get to ride a messed up trail because you couldn’t sit it out for a few hours..
This is the update from last night that I fell asleep before I posted..

The Iron Snowshoe groomer went past the house at some point probably last night. It looked like the trail laid down nicely. All area trails are open. There will be icy spots from the big ice base and bare spots on roads from the sun. Other than that it looked good.
Friday, the clubs are asking people to not ride while it is 45 or 50 out. If we get through that one day warm spell we have a cold front that will bring some pretty ideal temperatures for the weekend with Saturday 22 and Sunday 24.
Next week has me nervous. I see a lot of mid-40 temps and a rain storm on Thursday. Our big bad base can take that but we will want some snow and cold to freshen up the trails after. Hopefully March doesn’t have other ideas. Between the sun getting stronger and the weather getting more volatile March is always a roll of the dice. Sometimes it works out in a big way though.
I rode a snowmobile for the first time in three years yesterday. I wrapped up the pre-season tuneup and inspection on one of the Twindies and off I went. It was more of a test run but it felt good. After some (more) car repairs I will be swapping it out for Twindie #2 tomorrow. That has like 30 miles on it since the last major service so I expect it to go well.
I have plenty to do tomorrow so staying off of the trail on a warm day won’t be a problem. I do hope to hit the trail Sunday or Monday. I cant wait.
Have a good weekend and thank you for visiting!
