Greetings and welcome!

2pm-

The trails along the road between Rapids and the Red Pine BP were quite intact. They did look very hard with only a dusting of free snow. The one driveway was bare, mine was solid ice. Road trails are going to be one or the other. The thermometer says 34. My time outside disagrees. There is no melting at all and stuff has frozen up.

9:30am-

I am not sure what to tell you guys this morning. Between car breakdowns and the driveway being an impassable water on top of ice and deep slush nightmare I haven’t left the house in a couple of days. All that I can tell you at the moment is what I see out in the yard.

We have JUST gone below freezing at about 7 this morning. It isn’t much below freezing, it is 31 outside. Other than that we have not been below freezing since Tuesday morning. Sunday and Monday hit 39. Tuesday hit 48. Wednesday’s high was 42. Yesterday we hit 48 again.

We had rain last night that was a pretty good downpour for a couple of hours, and then a couple of hours of lighter rain. I would call it at least 1/2″.

The snowbank that I dug my S10 out of was up to the windows two days ago, probably 3 feet. I would call it about 18″ now.

Red Arrow and Paul Bunyan are asking people to stay off of the trails until it freezes up this weekend. The Kumalong Riders (Coleman) closed trails due to too much water. The other clubs have not updated since the thaw started.

Between the soft snow, ice on roads and driveways that held snow, and probably some flooding in low areas, grooming is not likely until the weather permits it.

The one good thing in all of this is that we had a heck of a snowpack when this all started. Most years we would have been done and then some.

I am hoping to get out of here later today. I will update as soon as I know something.

Have a good weekend and thank you for visiting!
