Greetings and welcome!

We are under a winter storm warning and in the grip of a massive storm. So far it has been mostly rain.

Let’s start at the beginning. Last night we had the first wave of the storm. It started out as wet heavy snow with huge flakes. Then we had rain that pretty much erased all of the snow.

Tonight we have had a decent amount of rain. I can hear the rain pounding on the roof. This radar image is as of about 10:15 mp, and all of that red and orange is heading north to hit us. I would be surprised if we didn’t get some thunderstorms out of it.

The news said that this storm caused a catastrophic tornado in Little Rock, AK that they are calling a level 3 mass casualty event with at least 600 people injured.

Closer to home the NWS is pretty excited about this storm turning to snow. We are under a winter storm warning. Once the temperature drops this powerful storm will turn to snow. Right now the usually conservative NWS is calling for 9″ of snow overnight and another two in the morning. The overnight snow is expected to be wet and heavy and get lighter as the cold air behind the storm mixes in.

It really depends on when the rain changes to snow. If it is soon enough we could really get a lot of it. Likewise if it stays rain totals will drop a lot.

I will update once the rain changes over to snow, likely in the morning.
