Greetings and welcome!
That was quite a weekend. Thousands of snowmobilers took to the trails Saturday and it was really a busy day on the trails. Thank you to the hundreds and hundreds of people that stopped at Rapids Resort. I regret that we were so busy that I only got outside a few times to do people pictures. Thank you to everyone!
We did get into the mid-40s (High of 44) yesterday. There was mixed clouds and sun so it wasn’t quite as bad as it could have been. We did see a lot of melting nonetheless. One thing that saved us was that it was Superbowl Sunday and most people had other things to do. If we had traffic like we had Saturday at 44 and partly sunny it would not have ended well.
I have not been out and about to assess the damage yet, but I can tell you that the snow and ice on the deck and driveway definitely got knocked down a little. The stubborn ice in the driveway definitely got humbled and the snow of roofs pulled back a few inches from the edges. I’d expect that road trails and the high spots that get worn thin took it the hardest.
It got down to 25 last night so everything froze back up, and it is still below freezing at 9am.
The pain isn’t quite over yet. The NWS says that we could get up to 35 today before temperatures drop in the afternoon. After that we should be good for the foreseeable future. Tuesday and Wednesday should be in the low 20s for high temperatures, with single digit lows overnight. Later in the week it moderates a little but it is still expected to stay below 30 for high temperatures.
There is no snow in the forecast until next Sunday. There are 3 bigger storms showing up after next week and cold weather between now and then.
Work today is going to take me from Caldron Falls to Crivitz and south to Coleman and Peshtigo. I will get a look at those areas and report back overnight or in the morning.
Thank you again to all of the people that visited last weekend! Have a good Monday and thank you for visiting!
