Greetings and welcome!
We saw about 3″ Sunday night into Monday morning. Monday got up into the low 30s so it settled a little, so it was a net gain of about 2″.
The week ahead doesn’t look too bad until about Thursday. Thursday the NWS has the high temp at about 34, and things go downhill after that. Right now they are calling for 37 Friday, 40 Saturday, and near 41 and rain Sunday. Looking at the GFS I am seeing a pretty good chance of those numbers, and maybe a few degrees more.
With the warm moist air overrunning the snow, I’d expect some humidity and fog, especially with the rain Sunday.
Behind all of that it looks like it will cool off to more seasonal temperatures, but there are no big storms showing up between now and Christmas. The warm weather won’t help our almost adequate snow cover and with no storms behind it for new snow, it will trim our wings a bit on kicking off the season.
In the short term there are riding opportunities.
The Dun-Good club opened their trails last weekend and are reporting good early season conditions and groomed trails. Some ATV trails north of Brandywine are open, and sleds can ride too, but the trails are not being groomed. There are some Pemenee River Riders trails open as well. Iron snowshoe south of C won’t open until at least the 12th.
Hopefully things will turn around and work out better that they sound.
Have a good night and thank you for visiting!
