Greetings and welcome!
As you could see we got about 3″ of snow Late Saturday night. The snow was fairly big flakes and pretty puffy, and it added up to more than expected. Even though Sunday barely got into the thirties, it still settled the snow by about an inch.
It was our first real accumulating snow. The roads were snow covered and slippery, and some of it even stuck to the trees. While it probably isn’t enough for the first gravel ride of the year, a lap or two around the yard today isĀ just about a sure thing.
The snow will probably stick around for a day or two, but warmer temperatures later this week and this coming weekend will probably take it away. By late week we should see mid-30s, and the weekend forecast is for low to mid-40s.
Looking ahead I am seeing a warming trend for next week that could take us into the 40s and beyond. After about a week of that things look like they will go back to about normal.
There are numerous chances for snow showing up in later the 16 day GFS model, but there are no big southern storms heading our way at the moment.
Now that the gun deer hunting season has finished up I will have a little more time. Usually the stretch between deer hunting and when the trails open is a slow one around here. That will give me a little less time at work and a chance to catch up on all of the stuff that was neglected during the busy Fall. It is also going to mean ramping up the update frequency here.
This coming weekend brings a great snowmobiling event. This Saturday, Dec 1st, is the 9th annual NEW Low Buck Vintage Riders vintage snowmobile show and swap. It is held at Gateway Bar in Crivitz, and is free for spectators and swap vendors.
The show is a highly recommended event. They have really grown it over the years, and there are always a lot of really nice vintage sleds there. The swap meet usually holds some treasures too. Last year I scored some hard to find wheels for the RXLs for a couple of bucks each, and there were a few sub-$500 antique sleds that I really wanted to bring home with me. It is a good show and a great way to kick off the season.
That is news for today. Have a good week and thank you for visiting!
