Greetings and welcome!
We are looking at a very nice week for weather this week, and it is last call for that, so I am getting a head start by updating this morning.
This week should hold mostly nice weather and temps in the 55-60 degree range. That is about 10-15 degrees above normal. Yesterday sure was nice, and there are a few more ahead.
The bite in the wind and 40ish temps last Friday reminded me of what is soon to come, and gave me a little prod. It is pretty much last call for outside work above 50 degrees.
Late in the week there is a small storm that will do a near miss on us to our west. At the moment it is not shown coming our way, but I have my questions on that. It wouldn’t surprise me to see that change.
There is a storm for the weekend. It is not as strong as earlier model runs have shown it, in fact it is showing up as pretty weak. It will however track on a pretty much perfect path for a classic winter storm for us.
This one does not have much moisture, energy, or cold air to work with, so most likely it will be mostly rain with a mix. We could see a few more flakes on the back side of it. Earlier model runs had it a much more significant storm, so it bears watching.
One of the comments asked when it would snow in Green Bay. I’d give it a 40 or 50% chance this weekend, and a pretty good chance next Wednesday.
Snow in Green Bay this weekend would be appropriate since the Snowmobile USA show will be in town.
The weekend storm looks like the beginning of some much more seasonal weather. This week will be 10-15 degrees above normal, next week looks much colder. There are several chances for snow on the 16 day GFS once the weekend passes.
We have had a pretty mild October and early November. Overnight lows have been cooling off, but we are not quite ready to talk about frozen ground or first ice on lakes yet. Give that a few weeks. If it goes according to the GFS, late Nov will head that way quickly.
At that point, the premium is on outside work this week, and especially stuff that needs to get done before the ground freezes.
I will be back later this week with another update. Have a good week and thank you for visiting!
