Greetings and welcome!
I am up early this morning. I overslept the wood burner’s last feeding and the chilly air woke me up. The TV and Athelstane Weather show -25 outside without wind chills, and the coldest reading on the TV is Stevens Point with -29.
The NWS says that we could hit +6 today, go down to -13 tonight and a high near +3 Sunday. Add in a little wind for -15 to -25 wind chills all around.
We are under a winter storm watch for a storm expected Sunday night into Monday that could get interesting. System snows could add up to 5-8″. The interesting part comes with some pretty strong wind and very cold air coming off of Lake Michigan Sunday night and Monday. That could bring lake effect snow that could double totals in some lakeshore areas. That looks to mostly affect from Green Bay and south, but we could get in on some of it.
Behind the storm there is another arctic cold blast even bigger that this weekend’s, and it will last all week. Wednesday our HIGH temperature could be between -5 and -10. It is like the whole polar vortex slid south and will be focused on the upper Great Lakes. Oh hooray.
The models do show it moderating for next weekend. That would be nice. I just hope the pendulum doesn’t swing too far the other way.
Yesterday’s travels took me to Lakewood and Townsend. All of the trails that I saw along the roads looked great with nice flat trails and full coverage.
I am planning on being at Rapids this afternoon from noon until about 4 or 5pm today. I am not planning on being there Sunday. I will have the camera, so stop in and get your group’s picture put onto the web page here, and last week I put them on the Rapids Resort Facebook page too.
Events for this weekend include the Paul Bunyan Riders Snow fun Day Saturday at Waubee Lodge, and a radar run & brat fry on High Falls Flowage at Boat Landing #3 with the Twin Bridge Water Ski Team.
Have a good weekend and thank you for visiting!
