Greetings and welcome!
I finally had a chance to get out and survey some of the storm damage. It was a lot worse than I first thought. Some areas fared well, but other roads had hundreds of branches and trees down. A couple of roads that I traveled would not have been passable right after the storm until big trees or branches were cleared. The ATV trails will probably need a lot of work before they re-open too.
The day after the storm the power outage numbers kept climbing as more lines came down and more people lost power. The number that I just saw said that over 100,000 people in Northern WI lost power. I was back up in a day but some of people are still waiting for service restoration 3 days later. From what I read WPS had 250 linemen working furiously to catch up.
Apparently quite a few people also lost landline phone service, and they are still repairing that.
It was a bad storm and I think that there will be a lot more damage and outage reports coming as people make their way to seasonal homes and cabins.
The bad news is that there is another storm coming for Tuesday night-Friday that looks a lot like this one. It is too soon to tell the precip type, but current models have us on that rain/snow/ice boundary line like last time. Hopefully it is just rain.
Here is the forecast from the NWS as of 9am today..
