Greetings and welcome!

The storm for today and tomorrow looks like it will mostly hit around the IL/WI state line. There is a chance of some light snow from it here.

The Sunday storm is about on the same track that it was yesterday, and it looks like it will be a 2-4 or 3-6 snow maker for us. Unfortunately it lost it’s root to Gulf of Mexico moisture, so it probably won’t be the 10+ inch storm that it looked like earlier in the week.

The good news is that the storm behind it no longer looks like an inch of rain that will wash the snow away. That one too looks like it is falling apart, and is now looking like a 1-3 or 2-4 storm mostly affecting the southern half of WI.

In a normal winter I would be looking at the Sunday and Tuesday storms as a classic double barrel low set up that brings us the best big snows. This isn’t a normal winter.

The La Nina is weakening and changes in the ENSO phase usually mean active weather for us. I don’t know that it will be in time to get us onto the trail another weekend. The last time that I was hoping for this we ended up with a dry Spring followed by about a foot of rain in two weeks in the end of June, followed by a very wet July. While it made for a great summer of rafting, it wasn’t helpful for our cause.

Right now my best hope of pulling the rope again in the short term comes with the Sunday storm. Without that we are looking at trailering at least 20-30 miles and finding the good spots in the hit and miss conditions to the north and west of 8 & 32.

I want to give a shout out to our friends from Ohio who come snowmobiling every year. This year they came anyway, and I sent them up to some sheltered trails up by Hwy 8 to get a little snow play. I didn’t have a camera with me yesterday but I will get a web shot tonight if they come to Curve Inn for AYCE pizza.

Tom asked where the Curve is. It is about a mile south of X on Parkway. Their campground borders the High Falls Flowage and you can get there from the lake by snowmobile. Tonight I will be making pizzas, which are really good, and AYCE for $6.70.

That is news for today. Have a good Thursday and thank you for visiting!
