Greetings and happy new year!
We enter the new year actually having pretty nice trails to ride. I did a lot of traveling yesterday, and saw a lot of trails at road crossings. From what I saw along 32, we are good to go from the Chute Pond Club north and about Athelstane and north and west. Riders are reporting some fair spots along with a lot of good trails.
The storm for the weekend is still a question mark. The GFS is pretty favorable with the storm path just east of ideal. We would still end up in the 3-6 range, with plenty of wind and cold. Some forecasts have us just getting light snow or 1-3 as the storm passes to our east. No matter the scenario, they agree on some wind and cold on the back side of the storm.
None of the forecasts look bad, some are just more generous with the snow. We could see a little light snow Saturday, and a better chance Saturday night and Sunday. The NWS has our temperatures in the mid-20’s Saturday and mid teens Sunday.
For us locals, the cold behind the storm looks pretty deep. The forecast is for a high of zero Monday and we will be lucky to see 10 degrees by Wednesday. Welcome to January.
That is news for now. Have a good year and thank you for visiting!
