Greetings and welcome!

Reports are coming in that the trails are pretty nice. Mixer King weighed in with a good trail report in yesterday’s comments, I found good conditions Tuesday, and riders that I have talked to were enjoying the trails too.

One comment that I heard a couple of times was how quiet the trails were this week. They did not see a lot of action in my neighborhood, maybe it was different elsewhere.

We have some cold weather ahead. Today the wind is expected to kick up and drop wind chills into the dangerous category. Tonight and tomorrow morning could bring -35 wind chills as we go -10 or -15  with winds of 10-15+mph plus gusting.

The weekend weather looks a little better. Daytime highs should be in the 10-15 range, and overnight lows are expected to be in the 0 to -5 range according to the NWS.

Looking at the GFS there is no break in the current pattern coming in the next few weeks. There are chances for light snow, but no big storms.

One of the cold waves later in the 16 day time frame has the 850mb -10C line going almost all of the way to the Florida panhandle and temps cold enough to snow in central FL. Burr.

Closer to home.. I have a couple of service calls this afternoon, then I am hunkering down until Saturday when I go to work at the Rapids at noon. I will toss in a couple of days worth of that premium January wood that I have been saving, and I might even dip into my ironwood  and hard maple stash. There is no better firewood unless you burn black locust (thorny!) or coal.

Tonight looks like one of those nights that I am very happy that I am not a furry little critter living outside.

That’s it from here. Have a good Thursday and thank you for visiting!
