Greetings and welcome!

The end is near..

We had a 50 degree day Tuesday and Wednesday was in the mid-40s. We have not been below freezing in a couple of nights. There is a lot of dirt showing in the usual sunny spots, and slush on top of the icy ones. The areas sheltered from the sun are faring a little better. There are still places to get that last ride in if you were to head to more sheltered areas. For most of us the season is done.

I have not heard a closing date for Marinette Co trails, but Oconto and Forest Co close trails Sunday night.

I am still taking the snowmobile in and out of the private road, but now it is more about the soft ground/mud than the ice on the driveway. I won’t be able to do that in another day or two without riding the snowbanks most of the way. Mud season is here in the sunny spots.

We are in for a sunny and 50 degree weekend. That will not help our cause. I am not expecting many riders, so for the first time in a couple of months I will not be at Rapids on Saturday afternoon to meet people. Thank you all very much for your support and generosity this year!

Whitewater season starts the first full weekend in April and it is going to be a great one. Not only did we have a record year for snowfall, the fall was a wet one. Looking back at the river graph we had a lot of high water last fall. A lot of that water went into the aquifer, giving us a nice base flow. No matter what the snow melt and rain bring we will have good water levels. Add in that record snowfall and some spring rains and we are in for an amazing spring whitewater season.

By the way, yesterday brought the first day of spring. If I wasn’t a snowmobiler mourning the end of a really great season I’d be happy about that.

Time to make the donuts..

Have a good Thursday and thank you for visiting!
