Tuesday 1-16-18

Greetings and welcome!

I got a pretty good look at the snow as I did my snow removal chores last night. I am positive that I moved at least 4″ and in places it seemed closer to 5″. Most of it was very fine snow so there should be some staying power to it.

Dan Guendert checked in with a snow report from over by Hwy 32, where they had 2″ in Chute Pond up to 3-4″ in Carter and Wabeno. Closer to the lake Peshtigo reported 5″.

The lakeshore counties along Lake Michigan saw a nice dose of lake effect snow. Places in Door Co reported 20″.

This snow will make the trails much much nicer. It will give the groomers something to work with and with warming temps later this week it should pack down and bond to the ice base.

Hopefully those warm temps don’t get too out of hand. I did not like what I saw on the forecast models in that regard. The NWS has us for high temps of 35 Friday, 38 Saturday, and 32 Sunday.

There is a decent sized storm expected to hit the region Sunday-Monday. Right now it looks like it is tracking pretty good for our cause, but that could change by 100 miles and bring rain before the snow.

At any rate we have snow that should make the trails nice.  As goofy as this winter has been get it while you can.

Have a good Tuesday and thank you for visiting!
