Greetings and welcome!
There is a lot to talk about today.
First up the snow overnight amounted to only about 1/4″.
There is snow in the forecast for today, tonight and tomorrow. My latest guidance is not good for our area, but we should see some snow. The latest forecast has the heaviest snow falling between about the state line and Green bay. They could see 5-9. They have winter storm warnings, we have a winter weather advisory.
I am a little skeptical about some of the projected totals that I have been seeing. At one point the TV was up to almost 7″ for Lakewood. The NWS has us in for 2″ each today, tonight, and tomorrow. I hope it happens. I am sticking with my 1-3 or 2-4 prediction. Being on the cold side of the storm I am expecting puffy snow so that could up totals.
Behind the storm there is some wind expected later Wednesday that could drift the snow. More of interest to me is the cold air, easily the coldest of the season so far. Starting about Friday we are looking at single digit highs and low in the minus teens or twenties. Some of the cold air on one of my upper air maps was down to -28ºF a little north of here. I am not a fan of that at all. Hopefully once it breaks we will see some stormy weather.
Last night we got down to -17. One friend said that he saw -21 in Wabeno. This morning it is a balmy 19 degrees out, and it is only expected to warm up a little after sunrise. That makes a 36 degree temperature change in 20 hours. I am happy that we weren’t starting at 20 degrees.
We have some events this weekend. First up is a radar run and brat fry on High Falls Flowage at Boat Landing #3. Next up is the Paul Bunyan Riders (Lakewood) Snow Fun Day at Waubee Lodge. That is an any lake ice fishing contest and a whole host of other activities. This is their big fundraiser for the year, so your support is greatly appreciated.
Next weekend there are a lot of events. There is Ice Bowling at Parkway Inn, Outhouse Races at Firelane Bar, Bed Races on Townsend Fowage at Birch Hills Resort, and I will be adding to the list.
I did not travel much yesterday. Here are a couple of pictures from the BP gas station and by Jungle Jims. That is pretty typical of what I saw along the road here in Silver Cliff.
Hopefully the storm will work out for us and bring a pleasant surprise. I wouldn’t mind a little moderation on that cold stuff next weekend as long as we are putting in suggestions..
Have a good Tuesday and thank you for visiting!
