There is no hope at all of opening trails today. Unfortunately looking at the GFS forecast model there is little hope of opening them this year. The model reaches all of the way out to New Years Eve and there are only a couple of chances for light snow.
We did have some light snow Sunday night. It was enough to make the roads and grass white but just barely. By late Monday morning most of it was gone except along road shoulders and in shaded spots. You know it wasn’t much snow if the sun ate it in half a day when we are a week away from the winter solstice.
We had another milestone last night that was positive. We got down to about -1ºF. At 10 am we are back up to +15. We are making ice and getting frost into the ground. Since my last update the ice has been getting thicker. It is likely that a guy could walk out on bays a little. I will try to get a look in the next couple of days.
