Greetings and welcome!

Yesterday was a very windy day. Snow was blowing off of the top of big open fields. The good part is that the Friday night freezing drizzle left a glaze on the snow and the wind only had the recent 1.5″ to play with. Last night got down into single digits and today had a high of about 14 with mixed sun and clouds.

The forecast is a complicated and uncertain one. We have a small system heading our way for tonight and tomorrow. It will likely bring a little rain, a little freezing rain, and a little snow.

There is a storm for the weekend that right now looks like it will stay downstate. The NWS isn’t quite on board with that, and it is possible that we could see some snow out of it. For now keep an eye on the forecast it will likely evolve as the weekend gets closer.

In my recent travels I have seen roadside trails in Silver Cliff down A to Crivitz, down to Coleman and Peshtigo, and out to Crooked Lake. The trails on the Iron Snowshoe were all freshly groomed and Silver Cliff and Crooked Lake looked great. The snow got pretty thin along W going into Crivitz a little east of Parkway and W, and declined as I went south and east toward Peshtigo.

To the north and west the trails are reported to be good in Goodman and good to very good toward Lakewood and Townsend except for in logging areas.  Those are likely bare and icy. There are still a few wet spots. Last night helped.

Town roads will mostly be icy, but with a good enough layer of it that they are an option.

Weekend Events..

NEAR NORTH CLUB EVENT!!!! Our Annual Meat Raffle is coming up on January 11, 2020 to be held at Crazy Guys Saloon on County Rd A & C from noon to 4 PM. Bucket raffles and a 50/50 raffle too!

JANUARY 11, 2020- That’s the date for the N.E.W. Low Buck Vintage Riders “Real” Hot Dog Ride”. Meet at the Dun-Good Riders Club Building, W11568, HWY 8, Dunbar. Ride on the Dun-Good Riders trail system, out into the woods, stopping along the trail to build a bon fire, roast hot dogs and eat chili, and shoot the breeze. Chili & hot dogs will take care of the breeze part! Hot dogs, fixings and chili will be furnished. Bring your own trail safe beverages, (if you know what I mean). After hanging out around the fire for awhile, we’ll head on back to Dunbar via a different trail, making a 30-35 mile loop. We will meet about 10:00 AM and be ready to ride at 11:00 AM. We’ll be on the Dun-Good Riders trail system, all groomed and in great condition. Every year Premix (Pat) has always found good snow & trails to ride. This year that won’t be a problem, trails are awesome! Weather won’t be too cold either. Just right. We ride out to a special spot along the trail, roast the dogs and then make a loop to return to Dunbar & the building.

The weather looks great! Dun-Good trails are in very good condition, the best in the area! Come on along. Meet some new people. Make some new friends. A vintage sled is not required and you do NOT need to be a club member to ride with us. Everyone is welcome to ride along; young people, old people; old sleds, new sleds and everything in between. ATV’s & UTV’s can come too, they are OK during the winter on the Dun-Good trails. Maybe you have a “vintage atv”? Bring it!

I did open comments so if you know of events or want to offer a trail report please do! I moderate them before they post because the Russian naughty spam outnumbers real comments roughly 400:1. It will eventually show up.

That is it for me tonight. Have a good night and thank you for visiting!
