Wednesday December 9th. 2015

Greetings and welcome!
With our warmer than normal weather it has been common to come outside in the morning and find a nice coating of ice on the windshield from the overnight freeze. That didn’t happen yesterday and won’t again this morning. Right now at 1am Wednesday morning I am showing 37 degrees. Yesterday’s low was 34, the high was 40.
In spite of our well above normal temperatures, it hasn’t been very nice out. It has been drizzle, mist and fog for a couple of days now, and we had a little rain in the past 6 hours. It seems more like London than Northern WI.
Our ducky weather has been the result of a few small disturbances passing through the area. It looks like tomorrow’s disturbance will at least bring freezing temperatures back for late week.
There is a storm that I am watching for the weekend. Saturday looks ok with clouds and low 40s, but Sunday looks wet. The rain should change to snow sometime Sunday afternoon or evening. Sunday night into Monday could bring strong winds and accumulating snow.
A bigger storm like this usually brings much colder air behind it, and that will be the case here. It will feel a lot more like December early next week, complete with a little more snow Tuesday-Wednesday, and a little more cold behind that.
There are a couple of big storms showing up for Christmas week. They don’t look perfect, but they are also a long way out in the forecast and there is plenty of time for adjustment.
We would all be a lot happier if we had a chance to get a foot of frost into the ground and a foot of ice on the lakes before the snow came. Their isn’t much of either one right now, and a foot or two of snow would get pretty sloppy, especially in sunny or low spots. I’d gladly trade any storms for a week of high of 5 degrees and low of -20 weather, but I am not in charge of that.
Right now all that we can do is hope for the best.
Have a good Wednesday and thank you for visiting!
