Greetings and welcome!

I got to see some trails along the roads between here and Carter today. In Silver Cliff and on the way to Lakewood the trails had full coverage with only a few thin spots. The RR grade was the same story, mostly covered with some thin spots. It got a little thinner as I went north. You can ride, but with just under a foot of snow the groomers could only flatten out the snow that is there, there is no extra snow to drag into holes and bumps. At that point you get to experience our terrain features in their full glory.

I saw that Vilas County is not opening trails yet. For the trails in Eagle River to not be open on derby weekend is a huge digger for that whole area. I may have mentioned it before.. El Nino sucks.

The weather forecasters had the weather warming into the upper 30s and low 40s this week. I didn’t buy it so I didn’t report it, and guess what? Yesterday the big warm up got pushed back to the weekend, now it is showing up next week Wednesday and Thursday with some upper 30s. There is a bad warm-up showing up about 12-14 days out. Would I believe it if that were a snow storm? For now temperatures moderate a little bit, but don’t go over 30 until at least next Tuesday.

There were no snowmobile tracks that I could see on Waubee Lake. There were a few by Lil Tipsie’s, but none on the north end that I could see from the road. Local ice fishing reports on FaceBook have ice from 4-11″ thick, with a lot of areas still no-go zones. Be really careful on the ice this year, we had open water not too long ago.

That’s it for me. Have a good weekend and thank you for visiting!
