Monday 1-25-16

Greetings and welcome!

Weather-

Snow Monday-Tuesday, 1-3 maybe 2-4”
Snow chances again Thursday & Saturday, and a bigger storm about 2/3.
Low 30s Monday. Low to mid-20s for high temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday. Late week and into the weekend low to mid-30s.

Warmer temperatures followed by cold nights late last week consolidated the snow and made hard packed snow icy. That can only be good for trails.

The trails in Wausaukee and east of Athelstane were pretty grassy.

The trail along F between Silver Cliff and Lakewood was groomed. A lot looked nice, but there were spots where the snow couldn’t fill everything in. The Paul Bunyan Club is reporting poor conditions on the railroad grade and good spots in the woods.

Iron snowshoe opened gates on their trails except for the River Trail. They were closed south of Highway C. They warn to, “Expect lots of frozen ruts, holes and bare spots. It is not going to be good riding, but it is passable. Please be extremely cautious since these ruts and holes could throw you around on the trail. The swamps are frozen, but very bumpy. “

Personally I would ride north of Benson lake Road and up toward Hwy 8 or from about Townsend north and west.
