Greetings and welcome!
The snow m0stly wet to the south of us Sunday night. We had an inch or maybe a little touch more by morning. Over the course of the day we had some winds gusting to 20 mph plus that blew it around and concentrated it in some areas. It wasn’t the 3-5 that could have been, but it is snow.
Our January weather has been with us for a few weeks now and it has us way ahead of a typical December as far as freezing things up. It looks like a couple of more weeks like it ahead too, according to the GFS.
For the short term Wednesday looks like the coldest, with a high between zero and +5 and lows in the -10 to -15 range Wednesday night. Our normal high and low temperatures are 28 and 12.
I have not gotten a recent ice report, but I would expect some lakes to pass the 12″ mark this weekend. There was already a shanty out on Waubee Lake over the Weekend, and the first snowmobile tracks on Townsend Flowage.
I am taking a night off from the work shed tonight. I really need to get my work done but the current -11 and a little wind just isn’t very appealing, even with the Reddy Heater. I will be back at it tomorrow night.
The trails can open next Sunday if we get enough snow. Right now about Friday looks like our best chance. Even that looks like a 2-4 or 3-5. There are no big storms heading our way on the 16 day GFS forecast model, but there are little ones every few days. In the absence of more snow, a guy could probably get a first ride on a lake or ice covered back road. For system-wide riding we will want more snow.
That is about it for tonight. Have a good Tuesday and thank you for visiting!
