High Wind Warning

Greetings and welcome!

It looks like we have some heavy weather coming in tonight through about Thursday.

There is a huge storm showing up on the models, and it has been consistent across the models for a few days. The storm is actually a northern and southern storm that will join, strengthen, and pass over Northern Minnesota.

At one point the models show a central pressure as low as 960MB, normally we don’t see many 972 storms. The guy on TV last night said it is as deep of a low as a cat 3 hurricane, but our hills and trees limit wind velocities.

We are still expecting rain and high winds. The NWS high wind warning is talking about some pretty heavy stuff. I went into a lot more detail on the other page.. http://northerndestinations.com/scindex/

Here are the latest warnings..

522 AM CDT MON OCT 25 2010

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST
WISCONSIN.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO SPREAD EAST ACROSS THE
AREA FROM WEST TO EAST TONIGHT. STRONG WINDS ALOFT COULD BE
CARRIED DOWN TO THE SURFACE BY HEAVY PRECIPITATION AND RESULT IN
SOME WIND DAMAGE. THE STRONGEST THUNDERSTORMS COULD ALSO PRODUCE
SMALL HAIL AND HEAVY RAINFALL.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

A LINE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL SWEEP EAST ACROSS THE
AREA DURING THE EARLY TO MIDDLE MORNING. THE SHOWERS AND STORMS
COULD AGAIN TAP STRONG WINDS ALOFT AND RESULT IN SOME WIND DAMAGE.

THERE IS A GREATER POTENTIAL FOR WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WINDS
IMMEDIATELY BEHIND THE SHOWERS AND STORMS...AS COLDER AIR STARTS
TO WORK INTO THE REGION. THE POTENTIAL FOR DAMAGING WIND
GUSTS...THOUGH SOMEWHAT LOWER...WILL CONTINUE TUESDAY NIGHT. IT
WILL INCREASE AGAIN WEDNESDAY AS ANOTHER SURGE OF STRONGER WINDS
ALOFT WORKS ACROSS THE AREA.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTERS ARE REQUESTED TO REPORT PEAK WIND GUSTS AND ANY
OBSERVATIONS OF WIND DAMAGE TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN
GREEN BAY.

Thank you to the people that left comments. I am sorry that they did not get approved right away, I am supposed to get an e-mail when one is held up. Now that you have been approved it should post instantly. I will look into that later.

At the moment I am getting buttoned down for the storm. It loooks like a strong one.

More soon!
