Greetings and welcome!
I am sticking to my estimates of about 5-6″ new snow and a total of close to 12″ on the ground. It is good sturdy snow though.
I mostly played with snow clean-up today so I haven’t left the Ponderosa to see what the trails & roads look like. There have been a lot of snowmobilers going by on the trail in front of the house.
Now to get ready for the cold.. It is an hour after sunset and 14 degrees. We won’t see temperatures that warm until probably next Thursday.
Have a good weekend and thank you for visiting!!

12:30pm Update-
The Near North Club (Athelstane) has opened trails but they are not grooming yet. They are also having a club meat raffle at Nimrod today from 1-4.

I am a little crabby this morning. The dry slot won last night and we only got light snow after my 10pm report. Judging by the snow on the deck it came out to an extra inch or two.
The wind with this storm makes it hard to come up with an accurate total. I will get a closer look once the sun comes up and I go and start snowblowing.
Right now it looks like the storm brought us about 6″. The good news is that it was fine snow that packed down into some sturdy stuff.
So we had about 3″ earlier this week that was wet and heavy. Then we got a couple of puffy inches from a clipper. Then we got this snow that compacted the whole thing down into 10-12″ of sturdy snow.
Can you ride? Sure!! Is it perfect? No. Think early season conditions.
Here are some snow totals from the morning news.
Maybe I am not as much crabby as jealous.
As far as the blizzard warnings yesterday I was thinking that was a function of such a big county and such a big warning area. That warning area stretches from Silver Cliff all of the way to Peshtigo. They can have some very different weather 45+ miles away.
Looking ahead we are in for a blast of cold air. For about the next week we are looking at high temperatures below 15ºF, and some colder ones like Monday and Tuesday with high temperatures of +6 and +3 respectively. That puts us firmly in the sub-zero temps overnight.
As much as I am not a fan of sub-zero weather, we really need that. Lake Noquebay still had a lot of open water a few days ago. Other lakes are ahead of that but not by much. We could really use a big freeze to firm up lakes before all of the awesome fishing derbies and snowmobile races that we do out on the ice.
There is a chance of a little snow from a clipper Wednesday.
I’ll update later in the day once I snowblow a little and go get a look around the neighborhood.
Have a good Saturday and thank you for visiting!
