Greetings and welcome!
Apparently I was wrong when I said that the rain was over last night. It was just over HERE. I left the house on the way to a Christmas party about 15 miles south around 8:30. The first half of the trip snow was falling at a good clip. The southern half was all rain. The line was about Ranch Road or X.
It was the same on the way back, with wet roads and rain in the southern half. Once I got within about 3 miles of the house, golly. It was snowing like crazy and the roads were not just a little snowy, they had a nice pile of wet heavy stuff that threw me around in the plow truck and made me keep my foot in it. It was a generous dose of wet heavy snow and pretty fun.
South of the rain snow line there was a lot of rain. I was hitting puddles that threw water up onto the windshield and slowed the truck abruptly. I have to believe that there are going to be some soggy trails down that way until it freezes in.
Tonight brought a pleasant surprise when a finger of the storm lined up on us and kept the snow coming at a decent clip. I would guess that we have 3″ down since sunset.
The forecasts and models show snow possible through tomorrow. The radar and front step tell a different story, one of diminishing snow and a storm that has abated. We shall see.
There is not a lot of snow expected this week. Mostly we are looking at pretty comfortable weather with highs in the 20s and lows in the 5-15 degree range.
There is a little snow possible for New Year’s Eve and day. Right now it looks minor with the storm getting powerful after is passes us. There were models a week or so ago that had it hitting us with a real storm. Again, we shall see.
Tomorrow will be catch up day. I have a few of you that jingled the tip cup over the holiday that will be getting thank yous and names on the list. I will update again tomorrow once I can do a few pictures and get a decent reading on the snowfall.
Have a good night and thank you for visiting!
