Greetings and welcome!
31º and cloudy at Noon
So far the only updates that I have seen this morning were on Iron Snowshoe and Red Arrow/Townsend. Iron Snowshoe closed trails south of Hwy C, and Red Arrow has their trails listed as poor.
I haven’t been out to survey the aftermath, but right now the recommendation is to find areas that had more snow, like up by Hwy 8, or secluded forest trails.
There is not a lot to look forward to in the weather forecast. It will cool off to more seasonal temperatures, but there are no big storms showing up on the 16 day GFS forecast model.
About the only hope that we have right now are a lot of minor disturbances that could bring an inch or two. In theory those could add up to at least early season conditions, but the late February sun might put a damper on that.
You just never know.. Things could turn around in a big way that isn’t obvious at the moment. With a month or so of possible season left it might be a little early to get out the fogging oil. Hopefully the pendulum swings our way pretty soon.
Have a good week and thank you for visiting!
