Greetings and welcome!
My apologies for not updating yesterday, and not starting on today’s update until late morning. The beginning of the week found me with some very long and intense work hours.
The thaw wasn’t too bad until yesterday. There were spots opening up on the trail Tuesday already, but Wednesday’s 40 & sunny got things moving pretty good. It is sunny again today, but only in the mid-30s so far.
Tonight we are expecting a little light rain and near steady temperatures in the low to mid-30s. Tomorrow they are looking at a 50% chance of rain and a high temp in the low 40s. Friday night brings another chance at rain and a low temp in the upper 30s. Saturday could hit 42 before the cold behind the storms moves in and returns us to more normal temperatures.
There are three storms in a row now, not two. The first one is expected to hit us tonight and tomorrow with a little rain. Thankfully the storm is breaking up as it gets closer and we are not looking at inches of rain. Storm number two has moved west in the models, and will mostly miss us, and storm number three will pass to our southeast and miss us again.
About next Wednesday there is a chance of a clipper system bringing us snow. As clippers go, it is a fairly strong storm, so I could see it bringing 2-4 or 3-6 if it all lines up right. There is a weaker one possible for that Friday night, and another that could graze us about the following Tuesday.
I have not heard of any local clubs closing trails as conditions deteriorate, but it wouldn’t surprise me. There is still a lot of base out there, but there are plenty of mud/bare spots opening up too. Unless it involved a trailer and a secluded forest road, I don’t see myself getting in any trail time in the near future.
This is not what I had in mind when I was expecting and predicting a spectacular winter.
Dan from Riding With Dan & Dylan posed another event in the comments..
Here’s another local event. It’s a fundraiser for a scholarship fund created in memory of a high school student who passed away suddenly in 2010 from a bacterial infection.

I haven’t spoken with the folks from Rapids Resort yet, but with no snowmobilers around, I am not expecting to be working there Saturday. I do expect to be there the following Saturday for Dale’s benefit, snow or no snow.
For more events I will refer you to my update from a few days ago.
It looks like my RXL diagnostic parts should be in the mailbox by now, I am off to see what they are about. Have a good Thursday and thank you for visiting!
