Greetings and welcome!

It was a clear night last night, and as a result we are at -15 this morning. Usually we are done with that stuff after St Valentine’s Day, but not this year. According to the GFS, there is at least one more wave of it in the future.

More of concern is what will happen tomorrow. The models are a little conflicted on how it will happen, but we are in for a warmer day and possibly some precip. Right now the NWS is calling for the upper 30s and a chance of freezing rain, sleet and snow.

The good news is that the precip, whatever it will be, doesn’t look very heavy. I am also not sold on upper 30s, thought I could see mid-30s as a very real possibility. Again, the model guidance is a little varied, so it is hard to say.

Saturday holds a lot of promise with temps in the upper 20s for daytime highs and low temps of +5 to +10 for Saturday night. Sunday looks warm with a shot mid-30s.

We have more than ample trail base, so I am not too concerned about a warm day or two. The warm temps will make the trails a little more prone to building whoopties with some traffic, something we haven’t had much of this year. There is a chance of Sunday getting a little warmer than we would like to see, especially if the sun comes out.

In spite of some concerns about Friday and Sunday I think that we are in for a good weekend on the trails. It will finally not be Arctic weather and we have great trails to work with. Road crossings might get a little bare, but otherwise I don’t see our huge base getting too beat up by a few warm days.

Ride while you can. Our normal high today is in the mid-30s, and by the end of the month it is in the mid-40s. Eventually that will catch up with us.

Have a good Thursday and thank you for visiting!
