Greetings and welcome!

The thermometer says that we got up to 48  yesterday and the sun was out.

I got to play out in the snow following up on snow removal chores. I can tell you that the snow compacted a little but there was no major melting at all. The places that had not cleaned up well on the driveway and roads are almost all still there, with only a little minor melting. That all turned to ice at sunset as temps returned to the 20s. Considering that it was our second day in the 40s we have not lost much at all.

We have a couple of ugly days still ahead. Today doesn’t sound too disastrous with 38 and cloudy. Tuesday night, Wednesday, and into Wednesday night we are looking at rain with a high Wednesday of 54. The good news with Wednesday’s rain is that the models aren’t showing much of it. The focus of the storm will be way up by far northern Minnesota. My guidance showed 1/2″ of rain or less.

I am not too worried that it will take away all of our knee deep snow. I think that the bigger challenges might be the weather delaying the volunteers that work on the trails, and having the trail base freeze up in time for the weekend.

All that we can do is wait and see how it goes. For now northern Marinette County and Oconto County trails remain closed to all traffic.

Have a good Tuesday and thank you for visiting!
