Greetings and welcome!
Looking ahead I can see that we don’t have much to worry about for the coming weekend except for maybe some cold weather. The polar vortex is back and we are in for another cold week. I don’t see a day with a predicted high temp over about +10 and some days we will be lucky to hit +5. Our normal high and low for today is 30 and 6.
There is a clipper showing up for late week that could bring a little snow, but mostly it is expected to bring a reinforcing shot of cold air for the weekend. The current forecast has us in at 5-10 for a high and maybe 15 Sunday, and lows in the -10 to -15 range.
The sun is the wild card in all of this. At this time of year it can boost a cold sunny day out of the single digits and into the teens. That still isn’t bad for the trails, and we should find the trails in good shape again this weekend.
In the longer term the GFS is showing more of the same right through its 16 day duration. Unless something changes, it looks cold for the next couple of weeks.
That is just as well, when the pendulum swings the other way it can get ugly fast. Having a day at normal plus 10 degrees is pretty common, and that puts us into the 40s. The record for today is 55. With March sun that could go really bad fast.
So, it might be a little cold out, but get it while you can. In a normal winter we might have a couple of weeks left, in an exceptional one like last year, maybe 4.
Time to make the donuts..
Have a good Tuesday and thank you for visiting!
