7 AM update

Additional info regarding the trail to the Bay of Green Bay.

The River Road Riders are asking for our help with their trail to the Bay once again.  This isn’t just something for their club or the Marinette area. It would benefit the whole county trail system.  Here is a link to the online survey. The deadline for comments is Wed. Jan. 29, 2014 so we need to act now.

Thanks to all those who can provide more support for this project.

Greetings and welcome!

It is a cold one this morning. Athelstane  Weather has -22 as of 5:30am. We are looking for a high of about zero today. With our expected 10-20mph winds we are looking at -45 wind chills. Our normal high and low temperatures for today are 24 and 1.

The propane shortage is in full swing around here with a lot of people out of heat or getting close. There was a meeting at Mary’s Place in Beecher yesterday where a supplier (Larsen Coop) was signing people up for 100 gallon short fills. The hook is in the price, $6.95 a gallon.

That seems really high for gas that cost about $1.50 last fall, but it is what it is. They were taking trucks to Conway, Kansas to fill up, about an 1,800 mile round trip, and the drivers were waiting 8-12 hours in line to fill up. The spot price there is around $5 a gallon.  Having a guy drive a truck 13 hours each way and lose a day waiting for a fill, a $2 a gallon premium doesn’t seem that bad. At the same time paying $700 for a couple of weeks of heat is pretty ugly. The state and county are ready to help people that can’t afford it or are in emergency situations.

The cold is expected to back off a little for late week and the weekend Friday we could see a high of about ten, and upper teens for Saturday and Sunday.

Well the cold has my morning schedule moved up a little so I have to run along before I am really done here. I will be back tomorrow with info on the effort on getting a trail to the Bay of Green Bay and the latest weather.

Have a good Tuesday and thank you for visiting!
