Greetings and welcome!
1:30pm
I am on break from snow raking & shoveling off roofs before the rain comes. I am really not having much fun with the snow as consolidated as it is. It is a sunny 45 degree day so at least I am working in a sweatshirt. I’d really rather be riding.
We got up to 40 yesterday with a sunny day. It did not seem to bother the snow too much except right along roads. There were places with road-wide puddles. Once sunset came the puddles and the water splashed out of them froze making the roads wicked to travel. We got down to 2 degrees last night. That is like some sick joke. Forty and sunny yesterday, two last night, and 45 and sunny today. Grrr.
Anyway, the snow that I am shoveling is very sturdy and has not gotten sloppy at all. I am kind of encouraged by that. We have some 45 and 50 degree days ahead, and some rain. The low temperature is not expected to go below freezing until Thursday night. That and the fog are snow killers.
I am a little less crabby looking at the latest forecast models. They have backed off on the rainfall amounts and intensity. Right now it looks like 0.5-1.0″ of rain spread out over two days. That sure beats the heck out of 2+ inches of rain and thunderstorms.
Right now my guess is that we will be able to ride pretty decent trails this weekend with mostly roads taking the beating this week. There are a couple of bad days ahead so that could change, but I am optimistic at the moment.
Time to go play with my snow rake and shovel again. What? I need to move the snowmobile? Oh no. Don’t be surprised if it takes a couple of hours to find a place to turn around..
Have a good Tuesday and thank you for visiting!
