Greetings and welcome!
We have had some cold weather since our last visit. Tuesday morning I saw about -4 on the way to work and +9 when I was out for lunch. Last night it was about 8 or 9 below, and today I had +4 at lunchtime.
I wanted cold weather, here it is. It is cold enough to do some good and we are not getting the -30 nights that we get in January sometimes.
We saw about 1/4″ of snow Monday night, enough to cover roads, but not much more. Today we had snow on radar, but it was really tiny flakes and not many of them.
As far as future snow, the warm-up for tomorrow and Friday will be associated with a weak storm that will bring light snow for Thursday and Friday. Right now it looks like a couple of inches will be possible.
The one that I like more is the picture on the left. That is a GFS snapshot from Tuesday the 28th, just under two weeks out. We would probably see 8+ inches as shown. Now that we have the cold I’m ready for a few of these.
As far as riding, Crivitz, Crooked Lake, Chute Pond Lakewood, the High Falls Flowage area, Caldron Falls Flowage area, SilverCliff, Wausaukee, and Athelstane all need snow. Townsend is about borderline, and I don’t have an update since the weekend.
Up by Highway 8 the Dun-Good Club is reporting very good trails. Given the chance I would ride there and north and west.
