Greetings and welcome!

It has been a busy week so I haven’t had a chance to update.

The cold weather has finally broken and we are getting into some more normal temperatures. Today was the first nice day in a while. I only showed 17 on my car at lunch, but local thermometers marked 22 and 25 degrees for high temperatures. The coldest that I saw through the cold spell was something like 17 below.

We did make some ice and frost in the ground. One person that I talked to today was working on putting his shanty out on Caldron Falls. He said that there was 12-13″ of ice in the big bay on the dam end. If you do venture out, still be very cautious. It has been a bad year for ice.

The rest of the week does not offer any chances at new snow. There is a storm for late weekend or early next week that could bring some. It doesn’t look like a lot of snow, but the model shows it going for a while.

In the meantime the only place that we have gone backwards is on sunny roads. It has been cold enough that melting has been pretty much non-existent other than that.

We are expecting normal weather (high about 25, low in the low to mid-teens) until Sunday when we could add a couple of degrees in advance of the early week storm.

Speaking of adding.. I saw a bit the other day that we have already added over a half hour of daylight since the winter solstice on Dec 21st. It isn’t a problem yet, but in three or four weeks it will be a big issue.

There is still a little hope for some weekends of riding in marginal or poor areas. There is some more active weather showing up fairly consistently about a week to ten days out. In the meantime we will vary a little, but I am seeing nothing indicating a big thaw. Hopefully February is good to us.

On that note I am off to get some dinner. Have a good night and thank you for visiting!
