Greetings and welcome!
Thanks goes out to Chris who updated the site with the trail to Green Bay information yesterday after I left for work. I did not know that the deadline was today.
At any rate, the River Road Riders has been trying to get a trail to the bay of Green Bay near Peshtigo as the DNR plans the future of a large piece of lakefront land. As usual the DNR ignored our input and went of their typical ‘Focus on non-motorized recreation’ in the initial planning phase. (I never have seen a plan that did focus on motorized recreation..)
It isn’t that much to ask to have a 12 or 20 foot wide trail for snowmobilers on a huge piece of public land, and we need to let them know that it is something that would make a big difference with a minimal impact on the project. Access to the bay would be huge for the trail system, and your help is greatly appreciated.
At any rate, we might actually get above zero today! There is a clipper on the way with 1-3 or 2-4 for tomorrow, and today brings the warmer air in advance of it. The NWS forecast has us going into the mid-teens today and a low of 10 tonight. That will feel like a heatwave compared to yesterday’s high of 4 and low of -22 with 20mph winds.
It will get cold again behind the storm for Friday, but not as bad as it has been. Highs Friday should be in the 10 degree range, followed by mid-teens for Saturday and Sunday. There is another chance at a few inches of snow about Saturday.
Between the fantastic trails now, a couple of inches of snow tomorrow, and moderating temperatures, hopefully a lot of people hit the trails this weekend.
This is the ‘before’ picture from my Sunday afternoon ride. Very few sleds have been out because of the cold, so this is still there. Add a couple of inches of fresh powder, and that is the outlook for Saturday.
Get it while you can, winter is passing by fast.
Have a good Wednesday and thank you for visiting!
